RealMed will ensure that you are compliant with 5010 solutions. We have invested very significantly to ensure we are ready and to give our clients 3 key assurances:

We are enhancing our RealMed application features to ensure a streamlined transition to the 5010 HIPAA-transaction format. If you and your practice management system are planning to send and receive 5010 transactions according to the HHS/CMS timelines, RealMed is as well. Our 5010 settings are customizable to ensure eligibility, claims, and remits are processed to your exact specifications.
If your practice management system is not ready, RealMed will work with you to build a customized set-up, and translator that will enable you to continue to submit a non-5010-compliant format up to and beyond the deadline. We will translate your non-5010 format, and submit it on your behalf in a 5010 format.
We will worry about which payers are 5010 ready, and which are not, and submit the format that's acceptable to them so that your transactions are accepted, regardless of payer readiness.

If you haven't already done so, we encourage you to contact your Practice Management vendor to determine when the upgrades to the new 5010 format will be available. If you are going to upgrade to the 5010 format, RealMed will provide a compliancy assessment of the 5010 files generated by your practice management system.

On the other hand, if you are not upgrading to the 5010 format, additional settings, adjustments and evaluation may be necessary to ensure a smooth transition. Our Customer Account Managers (CAMs) will work with our internal support teams to conduct an analysis to determine the impact that 5010 changes will have and make sure you are ready to meet all the 5010-compliance deadlines.
